The Chabad Tokyo Japan is a spiritual lighthouse for Jews and non-Jews located in Omori, on the JR Keihin-Tohoku line running through Tokyo and Shinagawa Stations. We support Shabbat and Holidays with lively gatherings and erudite wisdom from Rabbi Binyomin Edery, who has lived in Tokyo with his wife Efrat Edery since 1999. Their long stay in Japan has led to many humorous and harrowing stories on what it’s like to be a Hassidic Rabbi in Tokyo. The Japan Times just ran an interesting article about Chabad Tokyo and what is like to live as a Rabbi in Japan.

בית חב”ד בטוקיו יפן הוקם בחודש כסלו יום שישי נר ראשון של חנוכה תש”ס, כאשר הרב בנימין יחזקאל ורעיתו אפרת רויטל אדרעי הגיעו לעיר טוקיו וייסדו את הבית חב”ד הראשון
לימים מונה הרב בנימין יחזקאל אדרעי לרב הראשי למדינת יפן
ומאז ועד היום התבסס הבית חב”ד במטרה להחיות מחדש את הקהילה יהודית ולספק את צרכיהם היהודיים של היהודים המתגוררים במקום, המטיילים ואנשי העסקים המבקרים
וכן לסייע לכל אחד באשר הוא ללא הבדל דת גזע או מין
במשך הזמן התלכדה קהילה חמה, והתקיימו אירועים ופעילויות למבוגרים ולילדים
במשך השנים מהווה הבית חב”ד ‘שגרירות יהודית’ – במדינה, ומספק את כל צרכיהם של היהודים: אוכל כשר, תשמישי קדושה וכן סיוע גשמי לנצרכים
כיום ממוקם הבית חב”ד במרחק של 15 דק’ נסיעה משדה תעופה הנדה ו5 דקות הליכהמתחנת Omori st , וקיימים בו בית כנסת, ספרית קריאה, קייטרינג כשר, פעילות לילדים וכן פינה למטייל
